NFL Teams Going All In on Sports Betting

When you hear major media companies talking about the upcoming NFL matchups these days, the conversation looks and sounds much different than it did a few years ago. Most of the focus is now centered around betting, and NFL betting odds are always included every time that a matchup is being discussed.

It wasn’t that long ago when the NFL was actively fighting back against the legalization of sports betting. This league was trying to protect the integrity of the game by now allowing betting to take place, but the league was defeated by the Supreme Court.

There was almost an immediate shift in thinking after that ruling from the court as the NFL quickly started doing all that it could to align with this industry. The league office started to find ways to partner with sports betting companies, and it now allows teams throughout the league to do the same.

These partnerships started to take shape last year, but you will really see a major impact during the 2022 NFL season. Here are some of the teams and sportsbooks that are set to work together to make a profit.

NFL Not Messing Around

The National Football League decided that it needed to start things off by finding a sports betting partner, and it actually found three of them. Instead of sticking to just one exclusive partner, the league has formed a partnership with Caesars Sportsbook, FanDuel Sportsbook, and DraftKings Sportsbook.

This is important because it will allow the league to bring in some revenue when bets are placed at these sites, and the league shares official league data with each sportsbook. If you are going to sit down and watch an NFL broadcast this fall, then you are going to see advertisements featuring these companies.

Other professional sports leagues quickly followed suit and started forming similar partnerships, but the NFL is the top league when it comes to betting. Some of the major broadcasting companies for NFL games have actually started to come up with their own sportsbook apps or are at least offering free-to-play games centered around sports betting.

There is a stipulation when it comes to these partnerships, though, as these can only be agreed to in the states in which sports betting is legal. Over half of the United States now has legal sports betting of some kind, providing plenty of options.

Cardinals Looking to Cash In

The NFL team that could cash in the most during the 2022 NFL season is the Arizona Cardinals, as they will actually offer retail sports betting on-site. State Farm Stadium is the home of the Cardinals, and BetMGM is a partner of the team and the stadium.

A brand new BetMGM Sportsbook is set to open up prior to the 2022 NFL season, and that will give bettors a chance to place bets while attending Cardinals home games. Arizona has a large sports betting market, and opportunities such as this will only increase the overall numbers.

BetMGM, Caesars Racking Up Partnerships

There are a handful of online sports betting companies that have partnered with close to four or five NFL teams, but BetMGM and Caesars are taking things up another notch. Those two companies have eight and six teams as partners, respectively, and that gives these companies a big edge.

Along with the Arizona Cardinals, BetMGM has a partnership in place with the Baltimore Ravens, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tennessee Titans.

Caesars Sportsbook has a unique situation when it comes to its partnership with the New Orleans Saints. Caesars has also acquired the naming right to the home stadium as it will now be known as the “Caesars Superdome.”

Only Going to Get Bigger

2022 will be a good way to gauge how large the impact of sports betting on the NFL will be, but this is only going to be a starting point. Things are only going to get bigger from this point forward, and partnerships are going to continue to be announced.

The Super Bowl has always been a big betting market for the NFL, but it now includes every single game or event of the season.
